Beim nicht thermischen Plasma wird die eingekoppelte Energie hauptsächlich auf die Elektronen übertragen, während die Gastemperatur sich auf dem Niveau der Umgebungstemperatur bewegt. Die Energie der Elektronen wird dazu benutzt, um Kohlenwasserstoffverbindungen aufzuspalten. Demzufolge fokussiert sich das Anwendungsspektrum der Richtlinie vorwiegend auf geruchsbeladene Abgase und solche, die niedriger konzentrierte, gasförmige Kohlenwasserstoffe enthalten. Die Richtlinie enthält dazu Hinweise für Planung, Bau und Betrieb von nicht thermischen Plasmaanlagen zur Abgasreinigung.*www.vdi.de/2441
