This Standard specifies hubs to be used mainly for bicycles for general use, bicycles for young children, and motor assist cycles as defined in JIS D 9111.

It is not applicable to those motor assist cycles whose auxiliary driving power unit is built into the hub, or motor assist cycles used for tricycles.
