These technical requirements form a standard for Service Option
17, a variable rate, two-way speech service option. The maximum
speech coding rate of the service option is 13.3 kbps.
This standard does not address the quality or reliability of
Service Option 17, nor does it cover equipment performance or
measurement procedures.
